The 58/14 buoy is a 58 inch steel smart buoy with 1,952 lb of buoyancy, great for working in water depths under 120 ft. It has a 58 in steel hull, stands about 14 ft overall and carries its light at an 8 ft focal height, with a radar reflector built into the tower. Crews also call it the 58 x 14 or 58-14 buoy.
It is a smart buoy: our steel navigation buoys come with GPS units, and our white buoys with orange bands go by the same name. Wet Tech Energy builds the 58/14 in our own fab shop in Maurice, Louisiana. For bigger water, see the BL 620 steel buoy.

58/14 Buoy FAQ
What is a 58/14 buoy?
The 58/14 buoy (also written 58 x 14 or 58-14) is our 58 inch steel buoy: a 58 in (4 ft 10 in) steel hull, 171-7/8 in (about 14 ft) overall, with the light at an 8 ft focal height. It has 1,952 lb of buoyancy, ships at 3,000 lb and is great for working in water depths under 120 ft. Wet Tech Energy builds it in Maurice, Louisiana.
Why is the 58/14 called a smart buoy?
Our steel navigation buoys come with GPS units, which is why they're also called smart buoys. The 58/14 comes with a GPS unit as standard, and our white buoys with orange bands are also known as smart buoys.
Is the 58/14 foam filled?
No. Like all of our steel buoys, the 58/14 has two sealed compartments, so no foam is needed. Only our poly buoys are foam filled.
