Wet Tech Installs 19 Buoy Sites at Liberty & Ellis Island

June 30, 2026

NEW YORK HARBOR — Wet Tech Energy, a Gulf Coast marine services company, was contracted by the National Park Service and the U.S. Park Police to deliver and install new buoys and moorings for 19 buoy sites all around the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, ahead of the Sail250 celebration and Fourth of July festivities in New York Harbor.

The work covered 19 buoy sites in the waters surrounding both islands and was completed on a very short window of deliverables, with all systems installed safely and successfully.

"Our mooring crew worked tirelessly to get all the systems installed safely and successfully to see this project through to completion."

— Dale Dees, Wet Tech Energy Superintendent

Working within the short delivery window, the company credited the seamless completion to the entire Wet Tech team, which saw the project through from delivery of the new equipment to final installation on the water.

The timing of the contract placed the project in the middle of a national maritime celebration. Sail250 brought an international fleet of tall ships and naval vessels to five U.S. port cities between May and July 2026 for the United States Semiquincentennial, with New York as the centerpiece — a Parade of Sail of roughly 60 tall ships and 40 naval vessels from more than 30 nations sailed past the Statue of Liberty and up the Hudson River over the July 4 weekend, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
